Ah! Dead Bug Found in Hay

Every time I reach my hand into a bag of hay I cringe.

I was cleaning Pup’s cage over the weekend and while I was adding fresh hay to his cage I pulled out a flat dead bug.

I freaked out!

I know this might be natural because there are wild rabbits out there surrounded by insects but the fact that I held it and wasn’t aware of the fact that there could’ve been more dead bugs in previous bags of hay gave me the creeps.

I always thought Ox Bow was a good brand, and yes it is, but I’ve never had any problems with it.

I’ve heard stories from other rabbit owners who found dead snakes, crickets, and other kinds of critters in their bags of hay but it was never OxBow.

If this has happened to you, what kind of insect was it and what was the brand of hay it was in? I’m interested to see how many others this has happened to.

  1. I have found a flattened dead beetle in my bag of oxbow hay and it freaked me out!! I guess it’s not as bad as it could be, considering what people have foud in other brands. I still believe oxbow is ideal rabbit hay.

What'd ya think?
